The magazine Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) has just released the last tasting of Ribera del Duero wines, in which Luis Gutiérrez, in charge of tasting Spanish wines for the American magazine, has positioned Llanos del Almendro 2010 among the 5 great Ribera del Duero wines, with 96 points. This wine is one of the three estate wines made by Bodegas Dominio de Atauta, whose aim is to show the different expressions of the Tinto Fino variety in the Atauta Valley, located in Soria’s side of Ribera del Duero.
Luis Gutiérrez says that it is a “subtle and harmonious wine, perfectly integrated with the wood and with notes of Mediterranean herbs”. He especially highlights that it has “an elegance and freshness that very few wines possess in the region”, and he wraps it up by stating that it is “simply a magnificent wine”.
Among the elite wines of Ribera del Duero are also La Mala 2010 and Valdegatiles 2010, which complete the bodega’s exclusive collection of estate wines. La Mala 2010 has obtained 95 points and Valdegatiles 2010, 94; these scores position both wines in the highest part of the ranking set by the magazine.
About La Mala, Luis Gutiérrez states that the 2010 vintage is “the best one bottled up to that date”, and emphasises the finesse of its tannin and its considerable acidity and great balance. On the other hand, he describes Valdegatiles as “a powerful, mature wine with a great concentration and balance”.
Dominio de Atauta 2013, the wine that perfectly embodies the complexity that the Atauta Valley can offer through a countless variety of soil compositions, orientations and depths, has received 92 points. About this wine, Gutiérrez emphasises its mineral character and significant freshness and integration of the wood.
Regarding Parada de Atauta 2014, which is a wine with a pleasant and intimate character that completes Bodegas Dominio de Atauta’s offer, Luis Gutiérrez highlights that “it is an impressive wine, like all the 2014 vintage wines made by Dominio de Atauta”.
